Capel Manor College’s next Open Day takes you inside the Gunnersbury Walled Garden, from 10am to 3pm on 9 October. The bunting is out to welcome visitors who will be admitted via the Victorian gate near the pedalo base at the Round Pond, where the historic apple tunnel leads to the former gardener’s house. There are signs from the car park to get you there. This morning sheep were grazing contentedly, awaiting the crowds!
Today the announcement has appeared on Twitter that Gunnersbury has won a 2021 Gold Award from London in Bloom! Congratulations to Chris Ellis and his skilled team – they have done a stunning job during the pandemic and this is extremely well deserved.
Don’t miss Val Bott‘s online garden history talk at 6.30pm on 12 October. A Community of Gardeners will introduce you to some Georgian nursery gardening families in what is now our patch of West London. Tickets cost £7 and can be booked on the visitgunnersbury website.
