Secret Cinema’s plans for this summer

In May, Secret Cinema cancelled their application to put on a repeat of their 2018 event, but they have now made a new application for a revised model of the sort of event they usually offer. Their plans now need approval from Hounslow’s Planning Committee and Licensing Committee.

The new model would require a fenced enclosure at the bottom of the sports field, into which they would install an outdoor cinema screen and a layout of 6 marquees. They would show a series of films to audiences of a maximum of 1,000 people a time. The first screening would be on 15th July, the last on 30th August, on evenings from Tuesdays to Sundays and with matinees on Thursdays to Sundays. The events would end at 10 each night, with the audience leaving by 11. They would move onto the site on 10th July and leave on 3rd September.

Their plan depends on HMG relaxing the social distancing rules by 15 July. If this hasn’t happened, they would not continue.

The entrance to the park at the junction of Popes Lane and Lionel Road will be the main entrance for pedestrians and vehicles. Ticket holders arriving by car will be directed along the top of the park to a temporary car park (300 spaces, free) beside the path between Pope’s Lane and the main car park. They will leave by that exit. Taxis will be directed down the park to leave by the Great West Road.

A public meeting will be arranged in early July.
