During the First World War more than a million Indian soldiers were deployed as part of the Allied war efforts, and 74,000 gave their lives over the course of the conflict. A temporary exhibition developed by Gateways to the First World War is currently on display until 27 August 2015 at Gunnersbury Park Café.
Adam Prime of the University of Leicester will be giving a public lecture on the exhibit on Monday 17 August 2015 at 7pm in the Café. The event is free, and all are welcome to attend.
Gunnersbury Park Museum is dedicated to curating and telling the stories of the people of Hounslow and Ealing but is currently closed for its major refurbishment. Meanwhile it is hosting this exhibition to commemorate the centenary of the First World War, which should be of interest to the diverse communities of Ealing and Hounslow which the Museum serves.
