A packed meeting of the Hounslow Council Planning Committee debated the request for permission for 5 years’ of festvals for over 3 hours. Many objectors were present. In the end a decision was deferred for a month so that a revised proposal could be submitted with fewer events each year.
The Chiswick Calendar has provided a very full report which describes the meeting
The Friends’ committee wrote to the Planning Committee members and to local MPs emphasising that the key issue was having sufficient well managed events to earn the income needed to run Gunnersbury – and underlining the fact that local authority funding would be terminated after 2028. This remains a high risk strategy for the CIC and Development Trust as can be seen from the problems which resulted in a massive loss of income this year, but there are few other sources of such large scale funding. We hope that careful mediation will find a solution
