The London Mela, Europe’s largest outdoor South Asian festival, returns to Gunnersbury Park on Sunday 6 September 2015 for a spectacular line up of live music, dance, visual arts and food from South Asia. Over 70,000 people enjoyed last year’s Mela. This year’s festival aims to be better than ever with Bollywood, urban and classical music, outdoor arts, dance, fashion, sports, kids area, Tastes of Asia, the London Mela Bazaar, a giant funfair and a spectacular firework finale! It runs from 12 noon to 9pm.
This is a terrific lively event which fills the big field on the west side of the Park, an excellent use of one of the few really large open spaces of this kind in London’s suburbs. And the food stalls are always wonderful! This year there will be an admission charge for the first time – the fact that funding from the Mayor of London’s office is gradually reducing and changes in the sponsors make this essential. You can purchase Advance tickets through the website cheaper than on the day and ensuring fast track admission through the gates. If you buy tickets on the main gate on the day of the Mela, please note that it will be cash only, no cards.
