The Landscape Architect responsible for the HLF application for the Park, Jan Anderson, has notified us of the creation of a new User Group. Its first meeting will take place on Wednesday 5 February 2014 in the Terrace Room in the Small Mansion, Gunnersbury Park. As it can be very dark around the mansions, she suggests bringing a torch, or else meet at the Museum front entrance at 6.30pm prompt. If you would like to attend there’s no need to book, just turn up – everyone is welcome.
She writes: “Gunnersbury Park is such a large park it has a wide variety of features and attractions for local people, local groups and organisations who all come to use and enjoy it. We’d like to get everyone together to discuss your many and varied suggestions and concerns, whether it be heritage, gardening, sports, play, nature …..or pot holes! We hope that this meeting will become a regular event so that local people and park user groups can meet each other, meet the park officers, share ideas and make good things happen there.
As I am sure you already know, Hounslow and Ealing Councils are currently developing a range of exciting plans for the restoration and improvements to Gunnersbury Park, including the current Heritage Lottery Parks for People Project. Ideas are also emerging for sports improvements and nature conservation, and we are developing a new park management plan. If you’d like to know more about these, meet the park team and also tell us of any current problems and concerns please do come along.
It will help us to know numbers for teas and coffees so please drop us a line if you are planning to come along. If you aren’t able to attend (sorry I know it’s rather short notice) but you would like to come to future meetings or have any burning questions, please email the Gunnersbury Project team at gunnersbury@ealing.gov.uk and we will do our best to respond promptly.
