Val Bott’s illustrated talk looks at nursery gardeners in Brentford & Chiswick between about 1650 and 1800. Most historians have written about market gardeners in our area, supplying food to the London market. These were gardeners who nurtured plants and grew seed for sale. They were scientifically skilled, they obtained aristocratic contracts and they had strong local links through business, friendship and marriage.
